Personal Theory on Amelia’s Disappearance
There are many told and untold theories about this globally mysterious unsolved event. As someone intrigued by it, I allow myself to present my own theory about Amelia’s disappearance, relying on my imagination. I will write about a fictional event inspired by the disappearance of two pilots in the Pacific, which will inspire me to create a quality mood board for a collection. In 1939, Amelia was officially declared dead, mysteriously disappearing. Flying the Electra 10E accompanied by navigator Noonan towards Howland Island, the plane runs out of fuel, and her signal with Itasca is lost over the Pacific. Noonan and Amelia are left unable to locate the nearest island to land. We can only speculate on the following events or trust historians. This event inspired me to create an unreal image in my mind, which I find very interesting and inspiring. The story unfolds as follows:
“There’s panic in the plane due to the fuel loss. Amelia and Noonan are certain that Howland Island will not appear in front of them for landing. The plane is losing fuel and rapidly descending toward the ocean’s surface, leaving them nothing but to pray to God. They are sure they will end up in the depths of the Pacific and that their lives will become history. During the impact of the plane on the ocean’s surface, a loud bang was heard. Water was rapidly entering the plane’s openings. Noonan and Amelia put on gas masks, unaware of how long their oxygen tanks would last. They tried to exit the plane, but it was impossible. Opening the doors would result in a powerful water jet that would be fatal. They accepted their fate and managed to open the doors, but a strong water current knocked them unconscious. The water entered faster and faster. Their clothes were already soaked with water. They were no longer in beige shades, turning darker, becoming brown, almost black. As they sank deeper, it became darker and darker. There was no more life, but something extraordinary happened—Amelia and Noonan woke up. The first thing they noticed were enormous wings shining in the darkness, and then it became clear that it was a man with huge wings standing upright above them. ‘I am Icarus,’ said the winged man, ‘Daedalus’ son. I am condemned to live at the bottom of this ocean. My father, an excellent architect and sculptor, created these wings after years of planning our escape from prison. I didn’t listen to my father and flew too high, causing the sun to melt the wax that held the feathers of my wings together. I lost my wings and drowned in these depths. I don’t want to return to the surface because I disobeyed my father, and he died in sorrow because of me. I give these wings to you! They will help you rise to the surface and fly to the nearest island, which is Howland Island.’ Amelia and Noonan didn’t know what was happening to them, thinking they were dreaming or in another life. Then Amelia received wings that allowed her to move quickly through the water. ‘These are my father Daedalus’ wings, which have great strength. The wax will last only until you reach the nearest island, as the sun will melt it during flight,’ Icarus added. They had no choice but to hold hands and head to the surface. The wings helped them move faster through the water. The air in their tanks was running out, becoming heavier. They were almost at the top. With all their strength, they tried to reach the ocean’s surface by holding their breath. They lost their breath, couldn’t endure it, and water filled their lungs more and more. The light they saw was slowly fading. They were falling back into the depths and then disappeared into the darkness. Their lives ended in the depths of the ocean the moment they opened the plane’s doors. They didn’t have gas masks or oxygen tanks. They lost their breath, their hearts stopped beating, but their brains were still functioning for a few minutes before death. In those few minutes, they could only see what they wished for—salvation. New research has proven that the brain functions for about 10 minutes after the pulse stops.”
